Arancini are Italian rice balls that are stuffed, coated with bread crumbs and deep fried, and are a staple of Sicilian cuisine. The word “arancini” translates to “little oranges” in Italian, referring to what they look like once cooked. Ours are filled with a cheesy mozzarella and basil cream, topped with a fresh tomato sauce. Perfect to share at the bar counter or as a starter.
Lets pair with a Sicilian white wine! Try:
Planeta, Etna Bianco, Etna DOC (100% Carricante grapes)
The Carricante grapes from Etna are the result of the combination of black sand and altitude, which provide distinct aromas and three dimensional flavors. In this vintage, there are notes of white acacia flowers, fresh almonds and mountain peaches. On the palate it is juicy and full of hints of yellow plums and prickly pear.
